Candidate for election to Madison School Board: East High alumna Gloria Reyes

Class of 1988:
Gloria Reyes is currently serving as Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, Civil Rights, Community Development, Public Health and Education.  She was awarded a BS from UW-Madison (Behavioral Science, Law and Criminal Justice).  Prior to serving in her current role in the Mayor’s office, Gloria spent 12 years working for the Madison Police Department serving as a patrol officer, neighborhood officer and Detective.  She is co-founder of Amigos en Azul (Friends in Blue) that works to dissolve cultural barriers and build trust between the department and Latino community.  She is a certified Law Enforcement instructor and teaches at Madison College Law Enforcement Academy on cultural competency and bias.  She is currently standing as a candidate for election to the Madison School Board, and is strongly committed to the ideal of public education.  Indeed, our public schools have been a strong foundation for Madison’s success story.
